Middle School –
International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC)
The middle school years are a time of discovery and transformation. The
International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) is specifically designed to meet the
developmental needs of adolescents, providing a rich, connected learning
experience across disciplines. Students explore complex themes such as identity,
balance, and responsibility through projects that blend academic content with
personal relevance. Reflection journals, Socratic seminars, and goal-setting
routines help students understand not only what they’re learning, but why it
matters. At GISS, middle schoolers are trusted with real responsibility and
supported in becoming confident, self-directed learners—well-prepared for high
school and life beyond the classroom.
