Dear Families,
Welcome to GEMS International School Somabay — a school that is growing, and growing with intention. Since opening our doors, we’ve built a foundation of hands-on, meaningful learning, and each year we build further: welcoming new educators across our academic and specialist teams, expanding Grade 9 and preparing to grow further still, and strengthening the systems, curriculum, and community that our families have come to trust.
What stays constant is our belief that education should do more than teach facts — it should ignite curiosity, empower action, and help every child find their passion and use it to shape their future responsibly. That belief now runs even deeper into how we teach: a strengthened curriculum spanning our early years program through elementary, layered with international standards, Singapore Math, and rich literacy and science programs — with an eye toward an even more ambitious pathway ahead as our older grades grow. We’re also working toward Cognia accreditation, a marker of the academic rigor and continuous improvement we hold ourselves to.
Our students learn where the classroom meets the coastline — studying coral reefs, designing sustainable systems, and using real tools like solar energy and AI to solve real problems. Through mentorship, Socratic discussion, and deep, project-based learning, we help our students move from thinking about the world to shaping it — and this year, with a larger, more experienced team in place across every division, we’re able to do that with even greater depth and consistency.
GISS is, above all, a community — trilingual, globally minded, and rooted in the Red Sea that surrounds us. As we grow, we’re doing it deliberately: adding people, strengthening our academic foundations, and investing in the kind of school that earns a family’s trust year after year, not just building bigger, but building better.
